Aug 5, 2021

The Norwich Sea Captains are pleased to announce that goaltender Andrew Yocum has signed a tender agreement for the 2021-22 North American 3 Hockey League season. Yocum is a 2021 graduate of Lindbergh High School in his hometown of Saint Louis, MO. He was a four year member of the Flyers’ hockey team where he made 42 appearances during his varsity career. Yocum also played for the Affton Americans 18U team last season, advancing to the USA Hockey Tier II National Championships in Green Bay, WI. He recorded a 3-1 win-loss ledger with a 1.50 goals against average and .938 save percentage during the NAPHL regular season before appearing in all three of his team’s games at the National Championships.

“I decided to sign with the Sea Captains in Norwich because I wanted to play for a team that I believe will help me achieve my goal of advancing in junior hockey on my path toward eventually playing college hockey. I am looking forward to developing as both a hockey player and a person during my time with the Sea Captains. I cannot wait to get the season started in Norwich!” said Yocum.

Head coach Kevin Cunningham commented, “I am thrilled to add Andrew to our inaugural Sea Captains’ team here in Norwich! He is a talented goaltender who is very sound technically with great athleticism. Andrew has a strong background having played for some excellent organizations throughout his career and participating in a USA Hockey National Championship tournament. He has also worked closely with a fantastic goalie coach in Saint Louis, Jason Power, to continue his develop. I am looking forward to seeing where Andrew’s skills and work ethic can take him!”

The Norwich Sea Captains are the NA3HL’s newest team, arriving at the RoseGarden Ice Arena this September.
