Tsymbalyuk Joins the Sea Captains

The Norwich Sea Captains are pleased to announce that 2002 goaltender Alex Tysymbalyuk has signed with the club for their inaugural season in the North American 3 Hockey League. The Trumbull, CT native made one appearance for the New Jersey Titans in the NA3HL last October, making five saves on five shots before an injury ended his season prematurely. Prior to his junior experience, Tsymbalyuk minded the net for the Trumbull High School Eagles for four seasons in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference where he had a record of 9-9-1 during his senior season while registering a 2,50 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. Tysymbalyuk’s play throughout his senior season earned him First Team All-State recognition from the Connecticut High School Coaches’ Association. He played much of his youth hockey career with the Wonderland Wizards.

“I decided to sign in Norwich because I believe that the program offers everything that a player like me would need to achieve my goal of advancing to college hockey,” said Tsymbalyuk. He made this decision after attending the Sea Captains’ ID Camp last month.

Norwich head coach Kevin Cunningham express his excitement about adding Tsymbalyuk to the program saying, “Alex is a talented goaltender who has a great foundation of strong skating skills and a fantastic compete level. Because he is from Connecticut, I have had a chance to see his game develop at the high school level for a few years. When I got to work with him this summer it was clear to me right away that he would be a great fit for our program. I am eager to work with Alex and help him progress toward his goal of playing college hockey.”

The Norwich Sea Captains will begin their first season in the NA3HL in September. The RoseGarden Ice Arena will serve as the team’s home arena for practices and home games. The team is currently looking for billet families interested in hosting some of our players this season. Anyone interested in learning more about our billet program can do so HERE.
