Sep 18, 2021

The Norwich Sea Captains are pleased to announce that the team has acquired defenseman Trevor Souza from the Louisiana Drillers for a third round pick in the North American 3 Hockey League Draft and future considerations. Souza, a Hyde Park, NY native, will be entering his third season in the NA3HL this year. The smooth skating, skilled defenseman who can push the pace of play netted two goals and added fifteen helpers to total seventeen points in 40 games for the Drillers last season. Souza split the 2019-20 season between the New Jersey Rockets in the USPHL Premier and the Skylands Kings in the NA3HL where he put up impressive numbers with eleven goals and twenty assists for 31 points in 37 games. He is a 2019 graduate of the Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY where he was a member of the Huskies’ hockey program.

Souza is looking forward to bringing his experience and leadership to the Sea Captains during their inaugural season. “I am excited to jump on board and help this team and organization grow and develop. I believe that we can turn some heads and win some games along the way,” said Souza.

Head coach Kevin Cunningham is pleased to have Souza in Norwich. He offered, “I am thrilled to be able to add Trevor to our defensive corps! He is a sparkplug type of player who can make things happen with his skating, skills and ability to read the ice. Trevor loves to compete and he knows how to succeed in this league. He will be a leader for us with his play and his desire to excel. I am looking forward to working with him and helping him advance to college hockey.”

The Sea Captains will start their NA3HL season next Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26 when they travel to Long Beach to take on the Sharks. They will then host the Bay State Bobcats in their home opener at the RoseGarden Ice Arena in Norwich on Saturday, October 2. The team is looking for billet families interested in hosting some of our players this season.
