Sea Captains Drop 5-2 Decision to Titans

Dec 4, 2021

The Norwich Sea Captains were unable to overcome a sloppy start which ultimately doomed them to a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Titans Thursday afternoon, December 2 in Middletown. NJ in North American 3 Hockey League action. The Titans were lead by two goals from Jesse Dickinson and 32 saves in net by Donovan Alfama.

Norwich fell behind 2-0 7:04 into play as the Titans converted on consecutive power play opportunities. New Jersey would add another goal 14:34 into the first to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room after twenty minutes. 4:27 into the second period the hosts would extend their lead to 4-0. Tony Morran’s first Sea Captains goal got Norwich on the board 10:45 into the middle stanza. Ethan Ranger took a puck out of a maze of legs in the Norwich defensive zone, knifed through the neutral zone, spin to elude a defender and rifled a clean pass to Morran, who used a well executed screen from Josh Manahan and snapped the puck home.

Unfortunately, New Jersey struck again early in the final period before Jack Kinahan scored to complete a gorgeous individual rush on the power play with 15:32 remaining. Goaltender Brendan Pellerito assisted on the goal. Despite some additional quality scoring chances throughout the rest of the period that would mark the end of the Sea Captains offensive output. Pellerito made 32 saves in the loss.
