The Norwich Sea Captains fell to the the Long Beach Sharks 4-0 on Friday afternoon, January 6 at the RoseGarden Ice Arena in North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) action. The Sea Captains outshot the Sharks 56-24 during the game, but could not solve Long Beach netminder Ryo Murakami despite the shot advantage. Andrew Yocum took the loss in the Norwich net.

After a scoreless first period, Long Beach scored two goals each in both the second and third periods. Neither team was able to score on the power play as Long Beach held the Norwich power play scoreless during four opportunities and Long Beach did not get a man advantage.

“Murakami was outstanding for Long Beach today. He made several excellent saves to earn the shutout and he was undoubtedly the star of the game. We played a bit loose and sloppy after a very strong first ten minutes today. Long Beach deserves full credit for taking advantage of some miscues on our part to generate their quality offensive chances that they capitalized on and then supporting their outstanding goaltending effort at the defensive end of the ice,” said Norwich Head Coach Kevin Cunningham.
