The Norwich Sea Captains, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), are happy to announce that they have signed 2004 forward Nicolas Piluso for the 2022-23 season. The Greenvile, RI native graduated from Smithfield (RI) High School in 2022. He was a key member of the Sentinels hockey team as a senior, helping lead the team to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division I State Tournament.
“I look forward to playing for the Norwich Sea Captains and Coach (Kevin) Cunningham. When Coach Cunningham spoke with me and my family at the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Showcases that I attended this spring he conveyed that he liked my style of play and believed that I would be a good fit for the Sea Captains. I was immediately attracted to a program that is committed to developing players and helping them advance to college hockey. It is my goal to play college hockey and I believe that Norwich offers me the best opportunity to pursue this goal. I will give my teammates and coaches my best efforts every day in this pursuit. Let’s go!” said Piluso about his decision to sign with the Sea Captains.
Coach Cunningham commented, “I have admired Nicolas’ game for a while. He is a skilled forward who plays with a lot of jam and energy. Nicolas is willing to hunt pucks and go to the dirty areas of the ice to dig for goals. He is a perfect fit for the style of play and energy that I want our Sea Captains to display every day.”
The Norwich Sea Captains second season in the NA3HL starts this Friday, September 23 when the New Jersey Titans visit the RoseGarden Ice Arena for a 12 PM game. The two teams matchup again Saturday, September 24 at 8:50 PM. Season tickets and individual tickets for all Sea Captains games are available HERE and HERE, respectively.
