Norwich Blanked by Danbury

Dec 13, 2021

The Norwich Sea Captains dropped a tough one at home against the Danbury Jr Hat Tricks on Friday afternoon, December 10 in North American 3 Hockey League action at the RoseGarden Ice Arena. The visitors scored twice in the opening period, twice more in the middle period and then tagged the injury depleted Sea Captains for five third period goals en route to a 9-0 victory.

Andrew Yocum took the loss in the net despite some truly outstanding saves. Norwich failed to connect on some high quality scoring chances, particularly early in the second period when only trailing by two goals, but ultimately the offense never got on track.

“Despite the score I was proud of the effort that many of our guys put forward tonight. While we did not finish in a way that we can accept, we trailed 2-0 more than halfway through the game, and we had chances to make that score 2-1 or even 2-2. Andrew Yocum was very good in net and deserved far more support in front of him. I do not make many promises, but I assure our fans that today’s result is not what this Sea Captains team is made of; we will rebound and we will make our make or mark,” said head coach Kevin Cunningham.

Norwich returns to action on Saturday night, December 18 when they visit the Northeast Generals at 6:30 PM at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, MA. Then they will be off to Blaine, MN for three games at the NA3HL Showcase December 20-22.
