Generals Blank Norwich 4-0

Sep 30, 2022

The Northeast Generals struck early to take a lead that they would never relinquish on their way to a 4-0 win over the Norwich Sea Captains in North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) action on Friday afternoon, September 30 at the RoseGarden Ice Arena. Caiden Hess opened the scoring 2:30 into action when he hammered a puck home through Norwich goaltender Andrew Yocum’s five hole after Michael Locke sprung him on a break with a nifty pass. The goal stood up as the game-winner.

Northeast extended their lead to 3-0 with two second period goals. At the 2:18 mark Matthew Nuzzolilo rifled a puck home after a smooth feed from Tommy Lubin gave him some time in the Norwich zone. Nick Recupero added a shorthanded goal, assisted by Braeden Kennedy 8:29 into the middle stanza.

1:01 into the third Cody Lambert found Nolan Zotter alone in the Norwich slot and the Northeast forward made no mistake, burying the puck for the game’s final tally. Neither team was able to convert on their power play opportunities. The Sea Captains successfully killed off two Northeast power plays and the guests thwarted five power play opportunities for Norwich. Yocum made 27 saves for the home squad and Luke Fundator turned aside 26 shots to record the shutout for the Generals.

The win was a significant one for Generals head coach Darryl Locke, as it was his 200th victory behind the Northeast bench. Congratulations, Coach Locke!
